March 22nd, 2025 marked the grand opening of The National Medal of Freedom Museum in Arlington, TX. This grand opening was the culmination of a three-year construction process, which resulted in a one-of-a-kind museum experience.
Through education, leadership, and immersive spaces, The National Medal of Honor Museum inspires every visitor to awaken the extraordinary by exploring what’s possible in the service of others. This 100,000+ square foot space provides an interactive, story-driven museum experience for visitors, classrooms and event spaces, memorials, and more.
The museum experience is not the only unique aspect of The National Medal of Honor Museum. The building itself is a unique, groundbreaking structure that defies gravity.
The 25,000+ square foot museum space breaks the mold of traditional exhibits, offering a narrative based experience to guests. Visitors will follow the stories of Medal of Honor recipients throughout their lives, before, during, and after service.
In collaboration with Kubik Maltbie, Smart Monkeys was proud to serve as the show control programmer and is the first ISAAC system deployed in collaboration with both parties for this inspiring project.
“As someone from a strong military family and a sister that is currently overseas, I am proud to acknowledge our heroes and honor those who risked their lives for our freedom. This space is not only educational but recognizes the achievements and courage that it requires to fight for the rights of our neighbors. I’m excited for those who get to experience and learn from this museum.” said Smart Monkeys (Engineering Project Manager, Cambry Wade). “The Medal of Honor is such a special, rare part of our country’s history, so to play a role in celebrating and honoring its recipients is such a great feeling.”
One especially unique experience at the MOH Museum is “Conversations” – an interactive exhibit where guests can interview Medal of Honor recipients in real time. Innovative technology connects guests’ questions to the recorded responses by honorees.
Some of the technology utilized in the MOH Museum includes ISAAC Foundation 110, featuring custom Node-RED programming, and several Q-SYS systems.
The Medal of Honor is the United States’ highest military decoration, recognizing service members who display valor beyond the call of duty. The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is a 501(c)(3) educational organization dedicated to safeguarding and celebrating the legacy of the Medal of Honor and its Recipients.
