Summary

A Project Engineer at Smart Monkeys, Inc. is considered the primary technical point of contact for the client and is responsible of ensuring that systems & solutions are deployed and programmed according to the project scope. A major role is to provide controlled solutions for Audio/Visual/Lighting installations. This is a cutting-edge position that provides the opportunity to work on project of all sizes at sites all around the world.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide the company and its clients with control solutions for Audio/Visual/Lighting installations.

  • Participate in the design, development, implementation, commissioning, and support of Control and Network systems.

  • Develop custom equipment drivers, control methodologies & architectures, monitoring dashboards and interfaces, and custom GUI’s.

  • Plan and lead overall projects, systems testing & validation procedures, programming & scripting, and documentation efforts.

  • Store, retrieve and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.

  • Monitor control systems to ensure systems operate reliably and within established performance criteria.

  • Train end users and clients.

  • Provide After Sales technical support.

  • Balance multiple projects/assignments with alacrity while aggressively meeting deadlines and expectations.

  • Self-manage assignments and work autonomously when necessary.

  • Be highly collaborative and focused on sharing details routinely and consistently with team members.

  • Demonstrate a persistent optimism and ability to navigate challenges in a way that produces value, exceeds expectations, and promotes company success.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the following:

  • Advanced Control Systems Programming and Operation (especially Node-RED and scripting environments, as well as Q-SYS, Medialon, Alcorn McBride, etc.)

  • Proficient scripting abilities (Lua, JavaScript, Node.JS, SQL, etc.)

  • Networking Management, Configuration, Deployment, and Operation including VLANs, routing, QoS, IGMP, PTP (certification a plus)

  • Q-SYS Audio & Control (certification preferred)

  • Video and Presentation Systems Programming and Operation (Pixera, RealMotion, 7th Sense, Disguise, Touch Designer, etc.)

  • A/V systems, equipment, concepts, and technologies

  • User Interface development including some HTML and CSS knowledge

  • Office365 suite including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel

Training / Education

  • Demonstrated experience with electronic control systems and signal processing; familiarity with relays and Programmable Logic Controllers is a plus

  • Degree in one of the following areas of study is preferred:

Job Type

Working Conditions

  • Travel is to be expected on average 50% of the time due to the nature of the projects.

  • Onsite environment will vary for each project. Employee may be asked to wear protective gear on building sites.

Summary

Smart Monkeys, Inc. is an innovative and forward-thinking company that provides technical consulting, design and programming services for the show control and entertainment industry. Also, since 2015, Smart Monkeys Inc.  designs and manufactures its AV systems’ monitoring and management ISAAC platform. We’re looking for a self-motivated, talented and autonomous front end software engineer/developer. In your role, you’ll be developing custom, customer tailored user interfaces for projects of all sizes as well as contributing to the development of the ever-growing ISAAC platform.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing and Testing software (end-to-end development life cycle).

  • Developing web-based applications and modules in collaboration with other developers and software-architects using languages and frameworks mentioned below.

  • Integrate data from a REST API into the web application.

  • Specifications writing

  • Testing and documenting applications

  • Provide the company and its clients with front-end applications, monitoring dashboards and interfaces, and custom GUI’s, for control solutions for Audio/Visual/Lighting installations.

  • Work in collaboration with Project Engineer responsible for projects.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the following:

  • Proficient in the following languages and formats: JavaScript (ES6) or Typescript, HTML5/CSS, JSON, XML.

  • Proficient in one of these frameworks and knowledgeable in the other: ReactJS / VueJS.

  • Understanding and working with RESTful API, socket.io/WebSocket, database concepts.

  • Knowledge of either NodeJS, Go, Node-RED, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Docker or Mocha/Chai is a plus. 

  • Agile methods, development life cycle tools, Gitlab/Jira/Git.

  • A/V systems, equipment, concepts, and technologies is a plus.

  • Design is not a requirement, but sensibility to design is a plus.

Support Manager

Summary

As a Support Manager, you will be overseeing the support team and implementing appropriate processes to maintain quality and efficiency. You will be a point of contact for support tickets and will work in partnership with the customer and internal resources to provide off-site support on commercial A/V and Show Control projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of overall AV industry-related experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handle support team’s work schedule

  • Handle onsite assessments, coordination, and scheduling

  • Ensure the support team has appropriate documentation and training to perform duties

  • Create & tweak support processes to improve efficiency and adapt to new contracts

  • Ensure customers are receiving prompt and efficient technical support on Show Control, A/V, and Network solutions

  • Respond to inbound phone calls, emails, and support platform inquiries

  • Perform triage and preliminary analysis of support requests, dispatching to the appropriate team

  • Follow up on open issues to provide feedback to clients

  • Build Smart Monkeys internal support knowledge base and log time for analysis purpose

  • Provide client support in the operation and configuration of ISAAC systems

  • Participate in ISAAC platform QA

  • Perform proactive system checks on systems under service agreements

  • Perform scheduled onsite assessments and inspections

  • Participate as needed in prescribed trainings on products and software

  • Obtain/maintain industry/manufacturer hardware certifications as required

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

  • Management and team leadership experience

  • Extensive experience operating, troubleshooting and supporting a variety of AV systems

  • Ability to identify and describe typical systems, their components, cables and terminations used in AV systems

  • Ability to read, understand and convey schematics from CAD files

  • Knowledge of at least one Control System programming environment (Node-RED, Q-SYS Control, Medialon, Alcorn McBride, etc.)

  • Knowledge of at least one Audio DSP platform (Q-SYS preferred).

  • Knowledge of at least one Media Server (Pixera, RealMotion, 7th Sense, Disguise, Touch Designer, etc.)

  • Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (Lua, JavaScript, etc.)Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems preferred

  • Knowledge of networking for AV including VLANs, routing, QoS, IGMP, PTP (certification a plus)
